Profile

Isaac is a Senior Associate in the Corporate Advisory team advising on all aspects of Corporate Advisory work, with a particular focus on takeovers, mergers and acquisitions and commercial contracting.

Isaac has advised clients on significant and complex transactions in New Zealand, as well as in the United States, throughout Asia, Europe, South America, Central America and Australia. He returned to Russell McVeagh in 2017 after over six years working at Clifford Chance in both its Hong Kong and New York offices. 

Experience

His experience includes:

  • Advising Informa, a company listed on the London stock exchange, on (i) its US$1.56 billion acquisition of Penton Business Media, a leading independent US Exhibitions and Professional Information Services group, and (ii) its acquisition of Yachting Promotions Inc., a company operating several major US-based international yachting exhibitions, for approximately US$133 million.
  • Advising AEI on multiple transactions including (i) its disposal of Fenix Power Perú, a Peruvian power plant, to a consortium led by Chilean company Colbún at a value of approximately US$780 million, (ii) its disposal of its gas distribution and related business in Bolivia and Brazil, and (iii) the sale of its gas distribution business in mainland China to China Resources Gas Group Limited for approximately US$237 million.
  • Advising COFCO Corporation on its acquisition of 51% of Noble Agri Limited for US$1.5 billion, a company engaged in the origination, storage, processing, transportation, distribution and trading of grain and oilseeds, soft commodities and sugar.
  • Advising Pfizer Inc. on (i) its acquisition of Be-Total from Johnson & Johnson in Italy, and (ii) its disposal of a portfolio of six injectable products and related customer contracts across several markets in Europe, a divesture mandated by the European Commission.
  • Advising Carlyle Asia Partners on its acquisition from General Electric for US$483 million of a 36.8% indirect stake in Hong Kong-listed satellite operator Asia Satellite Telecommunications Holdings Limited (AsiaSat) and the resulting mandatory general offer for the 25.6% of shares held by the public which valued AsiaSat at US$1.312 billion.
  • Advising Asia Outsourcing Gamma Limited, a company controlled by funds advised by CVC Capital Partners, on (i) its purchase of Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company's Philippine headquartered business process outsourcing business, for a purchase price in excess of US$300 million, and (ii) the sale of Asia Outsourcing US Inc., a US healthcare business, for approximately US$235 million.
  • Advising Asia Education Investment Limited, a company controlled by funds advised by CVC Capital Partners, on its acquisition of Education International Cooperation (EIC) Group Limited, a Hong Kong company which operates one of China's leading international education student recruitment agencies.
  • Advising Ironbridge Capital on its acquisition of EnviroWaste Services Limited and subsequently advising EnviroWaste on a number of acquisitions in the waste management industry in New Zealand.
  • Advising Partners Group on its acquisition of Trimco International Holdings Limited from Navis Capital Partners (Navis reported returns of approximately US$110 million).
  • Advising ICBC Financial Leasing Co., Ltd. on its shipping joint venture with Schulte Group, a significant player in the container, gas and bulk liquid transportation ownership and management sector.
  • Advising the real estate investment arm of The Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) on its investment in Chongbang Holdings (International) Limited, a company which holds a portfolio of commercial property assets in mainland China.
  • Advising L Capital, a private equity fund sponsored by the global luxury conglomerate LVMH Group, on its investment in and subsequent divestment of Ming Fung Jewellery Group Limited, a company listed on HKEx.
  • Advising SPARX Asia Capital Management Limited and SPARX Asia Investment Advisors Limited on the disposal of their business of managing certain credit investment funds to a newly established investment manager.
  • Advising Justin Ho on his investment in Revo Pty Ltd an Australian company specialising in online sports applications, gaming and betting.
  • Advising DragonBack Capital Management (Cayman) Limited on the sale of DragonBack Capital Limited, a company providing fund platform services.
  • Advising a consortium of 11 financial institutions on their investment in OTC Clearing Hong Kong Limited, a clearing house established by HKEx which provides clearing services for over-the-counter derivatives.
  • Advising FINCA on the sale of its micro-finance business in El Salvador to Optima Financial Services.
