Profile

Hamish is a special counsel in the firm's corporate advisory team. He specialises in mergers and acquisitions, private equity transactions, overseas investment, joint venture arrangements and a broad range of commercial contracts and general corporate matters, including listing rules compliance.

Hamish acts for a number of the firm's key corporate clients, including Fonterra, the Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation, Lion, Woolworths, APHG, Sanford, My Food Bag and Precinct. Hamish is a trusted adviser known for his extensive technical skills and ability to calmly guide clients through complex transactions with commercial advice.

Experience

Hamish's experience includes advising:

  • Sanford on the divestment of its North Island inshore fishery and the entry into a long term arrangement with Moana New Zealand.

  • Altus Traffic (owned by Pacific Equity Partners) on its acquisition of Traffic Management New Zealand.

  • Fonterra on its partial divestment of GDT to NZX and the European Energy Exchange.

  • ANZ on the sale of its New Zealand asset finance business, UDC Finance, for NZ$762 million to Shinsei Bank.

  • Guardians of New Zealand Superannuation in relation to the establishment of the new $300 million Venture Capital Fund.

  • Zuellig family on its block trade sale of shares in EBOS.

  • Trade Me on its takeover by way of scheme of arrangement by Apax Partners.

  • Trustpower on the sale of its electricity metering business to FCL.
