Ed is a commercial property specialist with a focus on overseas investment, commercial and industrial development projects, rural land, primary sector industries, and renewable energy.
He advises clients on a wide range of commercial property matters including acquisitions and disposals, sale and leaseback transactions, development agreements, commercial leases, agricultural leases, and forestry rights. Ed regularly assists clients to navigate New Zealand's overseas investment regime, including by obtaining Overseas Investment Office consents and exemptions.
Ed is a trusted advisor, known for his ability to work through complex legal issues and provide practical advice to his clients. Ed's clients include some of New Zealand's largest companies and institutional property investors.
He first joined Russell McVeagh in 2017. In 2022, Ed left the firm to return to the Waikato region, where he worked for another New Zealand firm. Ed rejoined Russell McVeagh in December 2023. Before starting his career in law, Ed qualified as an Agricultural Diesel Mechanic.
