Ed is a property and construction lawyer with extensive experience in both New Zealand and the UK. He regularly advises clients on the negotiation of sale and purchase agreements, development agreements, leases and construction contracts. He also regularly assists overseas investors in managing the overseas investment approval process. 

Ed joined Russell McVeagh in 2012 after more than six years working at Pinsent Masons in the UK. 


Ed's experience includes acting for: 

  • Kiwi Property on the sale of the Majestic Centre, Wellington.
  • Precinct Properties on the development and leasing of “Wynyard Central”, Wynyard Quarter Auckland.
  • Kiwi Property on the acquisition of a 50% interest in The Base Shopping Centre, Hamilton.
  • Trustpower on the property aspects of its demerger.
  • Fonterra in relation to its New Zealand properties including advising on the construction and leasing of its Auckland Head Office.
  • A student accommodation provider on the development, leasing and management of student accommodation in Auckland.
  • A major international brewing and wine company in relation to its New Zealand portfolio including advising on acquisitions, leasing and construction matters.
  • A major international petroleum company in relation to the ongoing management of its NZ property portfolio including advising on sales, acquisitions and leasing matters.
  • A major Chinese residential developer in connection with the acquisition and development of land throughout New Zealand.
