Profile

Debbie specialises in debt capital markets, derivatives and the regulation of financial institutions and services. She regularly advises clients on regulatory issues including securities laws, NZX listing rules, financial adviser laws, personal property securities laws, consumer credit laws and banking standards.

As part of Russell McVeagh's banking and finance team, Debbie acts for registered banks, lenders and borrowers in New Zealand and offshore.

Experience

Debbie's recent transactions include:

  • ANZ, Kiwibank and IAG on their listed regulatory capital instruments.
  • ANZ and BNZ on their internal regulatory capital instruments.
  • Kiwibank on the investment in the bank and related entities by ACC and NZ Superannuation Fund.
  • ANZ, BNZ and Westpac in relation to the transition of their derivatives offerings to the Financial Markets Conduct Act.
  • Meridian in connection with its electricity derivatives arrangements with New Zealand Aluminium Smelters and other electricity generators.
  • ANZ and BNZ in connection with their covered bond and retained RMBS programmes.
  • Advising lenders and corporates in connection with securitisation transactions.
  • Advising New Zealand banks in connection with trading emissions units.
