The NZAGE Industry Awards commend excellence throughout the graduate and youth employment spaces and Russell McVeagh is proud to have been shortlisted for Best Graduate Print Campaign, Best Graduate Website, Best Diversity Strategy and Best Innovation in the Graduate Sector.
Russell McVeagh’s ‘Myth Buster’ print campaign focused on common myths attributed to a large law firm, such as having to go to certain schools to get hired, and the partnership being ‘old-school’. The firm’s summer clerk website complements this campaign, with real insights into what it is really like to work at Russell McVeagh. The site is designed to appeal to a young audience and includes videos and a more relaxed language suitable for the student population.
Russell McVeagh has a large portfolio of diversity initiatives since commencing the firm’s ‘Diversity Project’ in 2014. Many of these initiatives ensure that the firm’s incoming graduates are a diverse group which more accurately reflects New Zealand’s diverse population, as well as having the tools and opportunities to succeed at the firm irrespective of gender, religion, culture or sexuality.
One of the innovative initiatives Russell McVeagh has implemented this year is to support staff in taking care of their mental and physical health. In the past few months, the firm has partnered with well known comedian Mike King, to bring the serious conversation of mental well-being to law schools throughout the country.
Lesley Elvidge, HR Director says, “We think it is important to foster talent early on and are proud that our efforts in the graduate space have been recognised.”
Judging is completed by independent experts and student panels, with winners announced at the NZAGE Summit on Wednesday, 28 September.
