Market Studies Bill passed by Parliament

Competition Alert – 25 October 2018

Yesterday the Commerce Amendment Bill (Bill) received its third reading, and has been passed by Parliament. The Bill received royal assent today which means it will come into force tomorrow.

The Bill will:

• empower the Commerce Commission to undertake market studies;
• update the regulatory regime for airports; and
• update the alternative enforcement mechanisms available to the Commerce Commission.
