Last night the Diversity Awards NZ was held at Sky City in Auckland, which celebrates the New Zealand businesses and organisations championing diversity and inclusion in the workplace. The Awards are now in their 19th year.
Russell McVeagh is proud to support Diversity Works NZ, a partnership which the firm commenced early this year. The awards give organisations an opportunity to share and be recognised for the great initiatives they are doing in their workplace, and is a key reason why Russell McVeagh was keen to become an alliance partner.
Gary McDiarmid, Russell McVeagh’s CEO, was a finalist in the ‘Walk the Talk’ category, which recognised his leadership in promoting and recognising the importance of diversity at Russell McVeagh. Additionally, his commitment to driving the diversity agenda at the firm through initiatives which are helping to attract and retain the best staff.
Russell McVeagh has made great steps over the last 10 years in terms of gender diversity, but with ambition to do more and embrace diversity in all its forms, a formal diversity project began in 2014. It was at that point the firm reached out to Diversity Works for support and guidance and it is widely agreed that it has been a fantastic experience.
HR Director Lesley Elvidge said, “We are so proud to partner with Diversity Works NZ and support such a great event. It is inspiring to see so many organisations involved and to hear their stories of success. It was fantastic to be able to showcase each others’ achievements and we congratulate all the winners and the other finalists.”
