Congratulations to our Corporate partner David Raudkivi who has been selected as one of the region's leading practitioners in Capital Markets law. He is one of only five lawyers across both New Zealand and Australia to be named in the top tier of 'Most Highly Regarded' in this field, in the latest Who's Who Legal (WWL) 2022 report.
Based solely on peer review and involving interviews with leading practitioners and third-party recommendations, practitioners were distinguished by their top-tier work on array of capital markets transactions, including IPOs and acquisitions. WWL described David as possessing "considerable expertise in publicly traded deals, refinancing structures, prominent take-overs and shareholder disputes."
This is the first time David has featured in the WWL Report, and follows David being named 'Lawyer of the Year' for Capital Markets Law by Best Lawyers 2022 guide, as a 'stand out' Capital Markets practitioner by Legal 500, as 'highly regarded' by IFLR1000 for Capital Markets law, and recently featuring as a market commentator as part of NBR's Dealmakers 2022 series (see: Dealmakers 2022: will we see more public company M&A?).
David's practice focuses on capital markets, mergers and acquisitions (M&A), takeovers, private equity, shareholder activism and other corporate matters and he has extensive experience on public company transactions, including significant initial public offerings, secondary capital raisings, block trades, takeovers and schemes of arrangement.
Most recently he has advised:
-
Citi and UBS as underwriters on Air New Zealand's rights offer and $2.2 billion recapitalisation.
-
NZX (the New Zealand stock exchange) on its own AREO capital raising, underwritten by UBS.
-
Allbirds on extending direct participation to New Zealanders based on the US prospectus in connection with its IPO and listing on the NASDAQ.
David has said that this is also a real credit to the dedication and expertise of his team in this area, including Lucy, Anthony, Angus and Nuwan who have all played important roles in bringing these and other deals to market.
Well done also to partners Guy Lethbridge (Banking and Capital Markets Law), John Powell (Banking), Troy Pilkington (Competition), Fred Ward (Corporate Tax), and Matthew Kersey (Restructuring and Insolvency), who were recognised in WWL's 2022 Report again this year.
