Russell McVeagh is pleased to announce that it is expanding into Te Waipounamu South Island with the opening of an office in Queenstown.
Russell McVeagh Board Chair David Butler said, "The South Island, and in particular the Queenstown Lakes region, has seen sustained economic growth for a number of years. While for some time the firm has supported and worked with businesses with interests in the South Island, opening an office will enable us to better support businesses in continuing that growth story.
The firm is committed to making a positive difference to the prosperity of Aotearoa New Zealand and our move into the South Island is a further demonstration of that commitment."
Tony Sycamore, director and co-founder of highly regarded South Island law firm Van Aart Sycamore Lawyers will join Russell McVeagh as a partner on 1 December 2024 and will lead the opening of the firm's new Queenstown office.
"We are delighted to welcome Tony to the firm. He and his team have an outstanding reputation in the region for delivering high-quality, practical advice and exceptional client service. Tony is deeply connected to the South Island community and shares our commitment to building strong, long-standing client relationships," Butler said.
Tony Sycamore said, "I'm really excited to be joining Russell McVeagh – it’s a vote of confidence in our region and most importantly, we’re confident this is in the very best interests of our clients.
As a full-service commercial law firm, Russell McVeagh's expertise extends to corporate advisory, banking and finance, litigation and disputes, real estate and construction, tax, competition and regulatory, public law, trusts, and resource management and environmental law matters. These areas will complement and broaden Van Aart Sycamore's existing corporate, commercial, property and private client practice."
Mr Sycamore will be joined by existing staff members who are set to begin working at Russell McVeagh from 1 December 2024.
