Overview
Our unique programme offers fantastic support as you move through law school and make career decisions. Russell McVeagh was the first law firm in New Zealand to recognise talent and achievements of young people through a dedicated scholar programme.
Through this programme we provide you with the opportunity to summer clerk twice, provide advice, mentorship and financial support giving you the opportunity to foster a great network of young and experienced professionals to lean on as you navigate law school.
Benefits
As a Russell McVeagh scholar, you will:
- Have the opportunity to summer clerk in our Auckland, Wellington or Queenstown offices either once or twice (meaning that you could experience life as a junior lawyer in up to four different practice groups);
- Take part in a three-day work experience programme in July during your first year as a scholar to introduce you to the firm;
- Have both a solicitor and partner mentor to provide you with support, guidance and practical help during your time at law school;
- Receive $2,000 a to provide you with financial support as you complete your law degree
- Be connected with other Russell McVeagh scholars at law schools across the country; and
- Be invited to various Russell McVeagh functions, including catch up events throughout the year allowing you to build your network at an early stage.
Eligibility
You must be in your third year of your law degree (assuming a five year double degree).
We are looking for students with a strong interest in commercial law, who have drive and ambition, and who share our values of Respect, Curiosity, Excellence and Tenacity.
