Nina Dally, Solicitor
The Environment, Planning and Natural Resources (EPNR) team works at the forefront of the environment and planning sector in New Zealand. A large portion of the team's work is assisting clients to obtain the necessary consents for major commercial and residential developments, and critical infrastructure including airports, rail freight hubs and water and wastewater tunnels. This means you have the opportunity to work for New Zealand's largest developers and major infrastructure providers such as KiwiRail, Watercare and Auckland International Airport. We also advise clients on legislative and policy reform in the resource management space (for example, fast-track consenting and renewable electricity generation) and local government affairs like liquor licensing.
Our team is very collaborative, meaning that you will be working across the team on multiple matters at any one time. Some key tasks include legal research, reviewing expert evidence, corresponding with local Councils, and drafting emails, letters and Court documents. You will also get unique litigation experience as many of our projects proceed to Council-level and Environment Court hearings.
As a junior in the EPNR team, you will be enthusiastic, proactive, able to manage competing deadlines, and good at communicating with your colleagues.
Some key papers to consider taking at University include environmental law, resource management law, and administrative law.
