Dame Margaret Bazley's team and participating in the external review

We are pleased to confirm the appointment of both Jill Atkinson and Julia Spelman to assist Dame Margaret Bazley with the external review of the firm. Dame Margaret has selected both women to work closely alongside her throughout the duration of the external review.

Jill Atkinson is a strategy, leadership and change management specialist. She has worked with Dame Margaret previously during her time at Environment Canterbury and is an experienced executive leader with over 10+ years leading strategy teams.

Julia (Ngāti Hikairo ki Kawhia) is a barrister at Pipitea Chambers in Wellington. After graduating with a BA/LLB(Hons) from Victoria University of Wellington, she was a Judge’s Clerk for the Principal Family Court Judge for two years. Julia then worked in New York and the UK on criminal justice issues and returned to legal practice in Aotearoa in 2015. She is also the chair of JustSpeak, a youth-based criminal justice advocacy organisation.
